Best Star Wars Movies - the Grande Vegas scoop

The timeline of the Star Wars movies is complicated. There was the original Star Wars trilogy, then a trilogy that told the Star Wars story that occurred BEFORE the events of the original trilogy, then a trilogy that summed up the story and then movies that explored various storylines that occurred in between all of the trilogies.

The Star Wars games are similarly disorganized time-wise but, like the movies, you can play them in a way that helps you follow the movies’ storylines. For each of the eleven Star Wars movies there have been a minimum of 5 games released which gives you a large selection from which to choose. You can play the games in the order in which they were released or in an order that follows the chronology of the Star Wars storylines.

Or you can simply choose the best of the lot and focus your attention on maximizing The Force.  So let's put down our Vegas casino online for just a few minutes, and look at this popular gaming genre.

Best Star Wars Games

Everyone has their favorite Star Wars Games but these games are generally acknowledged as being the best:

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Knights of the Old Republic features a plot that is as inventive as anything that George Lucas ever dreamed up. The story takes place thousands of years before the Star Wars films’ storylines but the groundwork is laid for the future Mandalorian wars, the Jedi, the Sith’s power and the galactic wars.

This is a story of Knights of the Old Republic era. A Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Dalak, unleases a Sith armada against the Galactic Republic.  The player, in the role of the Jedi, moves from planet to planet in the effort to defeat Malak.

Knights of the Old Republic was first released by LucasArts in 2003. The most recent version was released in February 2022. Knights of the Old Republic has been a favorite of Star Wars gaming fans from the beginning thanks to memorable characters, an almost perfect turn-based combat system and unexpected twists and turns that keep everyone on their toes. This game demands a lot of the players – quick decision-making along with judgement calls about what is the “right” thing to do.

In short, this is a story in which it’s very easy to relate to characters who live in a far-away world where the dreams and aspirations are just like ours today.

Star Wars: TIE Fighter

Remember TIE Fighters? Darth Vadar pilots who flew his Twin Ion Engines would attack the enemies in swarms in attempts to overcome the Rebel forces.

You may not want to play in a game in which you’re fighting FOR the forces of evil but this SIM, sometimes referred to as one of  the best video games of all time, is worth playing.

The first TIE Fighter video game was released in 1994 but it’s been updated numerous times. In the role of an Imperial Starfighter, you are sent off to fight pirates, traitorous Imperial Forces and civil war combatants. You are protecting Emperor Palpatine as you prepare for the climactic battle at the end of Return of the Jedi.

It’s a bit of a jolt to suddenly think of the Imperial forces as those who maintain peace and order through your thirteen tours of duty, seven in the original, and three in each of the expansion packs – four to eight missions in each.

All gameplay takes place in space and as the game advances you have access to better armaments and more advanced fighters with better shields. Your offensive weapons include torpedoes, missiles, short range weapons, beam weapons while to defend yourself you have shields and jamming beams.

At some point, you’ll be asked to absorb the message……your life is unimportant to your superiors or even your co-combatants so you have to take care of yourself.

Star Wars: Racer Arcade

The 2000 Star Wars: Racer Arcade has a lot going for it thanks to its in-universe experience that allowed developer Sega to go leave Star Wars game development with a bang. The game highlight is the podracing sequence in which racers engage in a brutal sport which kills many of them off on the way to the finish line.

The game features four tracks: the Tatooine Bantha Tracks which are the easiest, the Etti IV Smuggler’s Cove which is normal play, the Malastare Pixelito Challenge which is….challenging and the Tatooine Boonta Eve Classic which is for expert gamers.

The player controls everything with handheld throttle controls as he tries to avoid collision damage and slowdowns whiel trying to destroy opposition podracers.

Homing in on the podracing scene allows this game to stand out from its competition. from the series with such specificity, and delivered on that promise with such confidence.
